How To Make Telemarketers Stop Calling You

If you are on the FCC’s(Federal Communications Commission) do-not-call list then you can make telemarketers and robots stop calling you for good, at least most of them will stop calling you. I would estimate that one percent of companies will violate the FCC do-not-call list, because they’ve never heard of it nor have they heard of the FCC. If you run into a telemarketing company who calls you after you’ve informed them that you are on the do-not-call list and that they are prohibited from calling your phone number, then you need to politely tell them to remove your phone number from their list, because you are part of a program with the government that makes it illegal for telemarketers to call you. If you don’t want to talk to them again, you can just report the company to the FCC or call 1-888-382-1222. The company will probably continue to call you in the meantime, but at least you’ve filed a complaint.

I can not emphasize how important it is to be polite to telemarketers, because they are only human beings doing their job. Another reason you should be nice to telemarketers is because if you get mad and make death threats at telemarketers, then you will go to jail and they will continue calling people.

Do you get calls from robots? Well, the do-not-call list was recently updated,so it is illegal for robots to call you; unless you have given prior consent to receive phone calls from said robot.
if a robotic call doesn’t give you an option to remove your phone number from their list, you feel like there is nothing you can do to stop the phone calls. Well there is something you can do to stop robot telemarketer calls and it is quite simple. All you have to do is hold down the # key for approximately five seconds and the robot won’t know what to do, so it should send you to a live person, tell you that is an invalid key, or hang up on you. If you get to a live person tell them to have their robot to stop calling you. You will need to explain about the newly updated FCC rules. If you don’t feel like explaining this to them, simply write down their number and the name of their company and complain to the FCC.

I hope this guide on how to stop telemarketer phone calls and robot phone calls helped you out.

  • Thanks for sharing this information. I think holding down this # key is a good idea. I think I’d try that when I get another telemarketing call. I’ve read about some prank tips I can use, too. I found it here  http://www.callercenter.com/articles/14waystoannoytelemarketers.html.
